This BC Limited Vacation Rental Business was started in 2009 and has been under current ownership since inception. Sicamous Vacation Rentals has managed 20 - 25 privately owned properies in the Sicamous area ranging from $1700 - $3500 weekly rental rates during the summer months and $1600 - $3500 monthly rental rates during the off season. The management company receives a commisions on each rented opportunity. These well maintained properties are mainly on the water and come with private boat moorage. Each unit comes fully outfitted with furniture, appliances, kitchen utensils, washing machines and dryers, televisions, etc. There are gyms, pools and hot tubs in the common areas of the different properties.
Growth / Expansion overview
A portion of the business directly comes from word of mouth and repeat customers at 80%. Other marketing is through a well established website, Chamber of Commerce, Tourism affliates and some third party booking platforms may be used to fill up any unbooked areas due to cancellations, etc. Typically, all units are booked for the summer months and 75% booked monthly through the rest of the year. Utilization of the properties by owners or friends is family is roughly 10 - 20%. The utilization of the properties by using other platforms could increase revenue as well as adding additional units. Other means of expansion are property checks when not in use.
